Alstonefield Camping Barn with cosy woodburning stove
Alstonefield Camping Barn is in a prime position in the Peak District. It commands breath-taking views in all directions. The perfect retreat to get back to nature and get away from it all, with birdwatching by day and star gazing by night! There are dale walks from the door and for those with boundless energy there are numerous hills to climb to be rewarded with panoramic views of the Derbyshire countryside in all its glory. It provides basic communal accommodation for 1 to 12 persons on a sole use basis.
Our barn is ideal for all sorts of campers: Families and Friends, walking, climbing and cycling groups (Manifold Cycle Trail is just down the road), Scouts and Duke of Edinburgh and School Groups. Its been used as a basic venue for corporate bookings for team building and many university students have used it as a venue for film making. It is also a popular choice for just a couple wanting to switch off from the hassles of a hectic life. The barn has no electricity but we believe that this adds to its charm. Once candle lit it is quite magical and has great atmosphere. Its like camping but you don’t get wet!

Our remote barn stands in its own little meadow off the beaten track but is within walking distance of quaint village pubs serving good food and the Manifold Hotel at Hulme End which often serves Campers Breakfasts.
The village of Hartington with its own cheese shop, cafes, pubs etc is only 4 miles away. The barn is close to Manifold and Tissington off road trails for cyclists, Ramshaw Rocks for climbers and for those who enjoy water sports it is 20 minutes drive from Carsington Water Visitor Centre . The famous theme park at The Alton Towers Resort, the country's most popular attraction, is less than half an hours drive away, as is Gullivers Kingdom at Matlock Bath, better suited to smaller children. Click on Attractions and start planning!
Two well behaved dogs are welcome (under strict control at all times as the meadow next to the barn often has sheep or cattle grazing) and only following prior arrangement with ourselves and under no circumstances should be left alone in the barn.
